In a little over a 24 hour period almost 20 Thousand people visited the Neighborhood Journal Website. The large number of people went to the website to read an article, “Street Racing coming to an End at Mariano’s. Huge Win for the Community.” The article about the communities’s success in finding a solution to the Street Racers in our community. The Neighborhood Journal article attracted media attention including CBS2 News Chicago and WLS 890.
Rob Johnson the former Anchor of CBS2 News Chicago and now on WLS 890 radio interviewed Steve Demitro about the Street Racing in our community. The interview took place on Wednesday just before 6:00pm on WLS 890 AM Radio. During the interview Steve Demitro talked about McKinley Park being one of the most diverse communities in the city with volunteers that are working to make the community great. How the community has come together during a crises to find solutions to the Street Racing and getting results.
Charlie De Mar a reporter for CBS 2 News Chicago, read the article from the Neighborhood Journal. He posted on a McKinley Park community Face Book Page under the article thread that he wanted to interview people in the neighborhood about a story on Street Racing that he was working on. CBS 2 News Chicago aired the story on it’s Wednesday 10:00 p.m broadcast.
