Bridgeport is a neighborhood rich in culture, history and tradition. One of the most popular events in Bridgeport is the Feast of The Assumption. Each Aug 15th, since 1906, the spectacular festival is held at St. Jerome Croatian Catholic Church, (2823 S. Princeton).
The Church was build in 1884 by Swedish Lutherans and purchased in 1922 by Croatians. St. Jerome Catholic School also opened in 1922.
The Feast of The Assumption is a time-honored tradition that celebrates the Virgin Mary’s ascent into heaven. During this festival, attendees can enjoy traditional Croatian beer, food, games, and music. Thousands of people attended today’s amazing neighborhood event. The Feast of The Assumption is a wonderful opportunity to experience the vibrant culture of Bridgeport.
