Pure Magic: The 2026 Steve Demitro Fishing Derby Highlight Video

Words alone can't capture the pure magic of this year's Steve Demitro Fishing Derby, but we hope the highlight video comes close!

Under crystal-clear skies and perfect weather, families flocked to McKinley Park for an action-packed celebration filled with amazing prizes, mouthwatering food, and nonstop excitement.

Adding star power to the day, beloved Chicago TV personality and ABC7 News Anchor Ravi Baichwal emceed the event, keeping the energy high—and the crowd loved every minute.

Congressman Mike Quigley delivered a thoughtful speech on conservation, while 9th District Commander Joseph Mark and his CAPS team were on hand to help the kids fish. The Chicago Police Mounted Unit also made a special appearance, delighting children with the chance to see and pet the horses. Cook County Commissioner John Daley and 11th Ward Alderperson Nicole Lee joined the fun as well, talking with the kids about fishing.

Best of all, the kids reeled in fish after fish, turning the lagoon into a scene of pure joy and triumphant catches. What a spectacular success!
