Pilsen’s 7th Annual Turkey Bowl: Home Runs for Hunger in Softball Showdown! – Photos

Today was an absolute blast at the 7th Annual Harrison Park Turkey Bowl in the heart of Pilsen! Picture this: 170 players, 8 teams, all battling it out in the 16-inch softball tournament under the glorious rays of the sun. It wasn’t just about the thrill of the game; it was about making a difference!

This fantastic event wasn’t just about home runs and strikeouts. Nope, it was about rallying for a cause that truly matters. Every swing, catch, and slide into base was a step towards helping those in need. And guess what? They hit it out of the park in the generosity department!

Year after year, this Thanksgiving Softball Tournament, spearheaded by the one and only Manny Sanchez, a Pilsen native, has been a beacon of hope. Manny, fueled by his passion for his community, initiated this tournament not just for the love of the game, but with a bigger purpose in mind — giving back to those who could use a helping hand.

The numbers speak volumes. Last year, the Turkey Bowl crew rallied together and collected a whopping 930 pounds of canned goodness, all generously donated to the Chicago Food Depository. Now, that’s not just a game-winning play; that’s a community coming together, making a real impact, and spreading joy like confetti on a championship podium.
