Ramova Theater Roars Back to Life: 38-Year Dormancy Ends with Hard Work and Vision – A Bridgeport Game Changer Unveiled- Photos

The Long Road

The Ramova ceased operations in 1985, and despite talks of reopening, progress was minimal. However, a renewed effort and a clear vision emerged to breathe life back into the Ramova and revitalize Halsted Street as a bustling business district. On November 19, 2019, the inaugural community event for the Ramova renovation took place in the basement of the Nativity Of Our Lord Church. Approximately 500 attendees were present, witnessing the presentation of renovation plans and actively providing valuable input and feedback. Despite the determination and vision, the path forward remained uncertain for the then $28 million development.

Ground was finally broken two years later on October 21, 2021. Today the costs of the Ramova is in excess of $30 million and with many celebrities joining in as partners.
