Once more, the community found itself wrapped in the warm embrace of gratitude as the American Legion McKinley Park Post Veterans and their counterparts the Bridgeport VFW both hosted back-to-back Trunk & Treat events, bringing Halloween joy to families across the South Side.
American Legion McKinley Park Post
The American Legion McKinley Park Post pulled out all the stops for their annual Trunk & Treat, filling the parking lot with decorated vehicles overflowing with candy and community spirit. Veterans and volunteers greeted children and families with smiles, costumes, and generous treats.
Bridgeport VFW Post 5079
The Bridgeport Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5079 on S. May Street hosted their own festive celebration, drawing families from across Bridgeport for an evening of Halloween fun. The VFW's commitment to community events like this one is a hallmark of their service beyond the battlefield.
Events like these are a reminder of the vital role veterans' organizations play in the fabric of neighborhood life in Bridgeport and McKinley Park. Their service doesn't end when they come home — it continues every day in the communities they love.
