There’s something special about used book stores. They’re like time capsules, filled with the stories and ideas of the people who came before us. When you step into a used book store, you never know what you’re going to find. Maybe it’s a first edition of your favorite novel, or a signed copy of a book by your favorite author. Maybe it’s a dusty old book that looks like it hasn’t been touched in decades, or a well-worn paperback that seems to have been read dozens of times. Whatever it is, each book has its own story to tell. Used book stores are more than just places to buy books. They’re places where history comes alive, and where the stories of our past can be found.
What Happens when you put your dream out there and the world responds?
Joe & Lisa Judd were living in Central Illinois and wanted to open a used bookstore in Bridgeport. But they did not have any money to open the bookstore. In September 2021 Joe and Lisa Judd started a Go Fund-Me Account asking for donations to open the used book store. In a short time they raised $7,000.00 mostly from the people of Bridgeport.
With enough money raised, a few months later they opened their store Tangible Books at 3324 S. Halsted.

Tangible Books has over 40,000 used books for sale. They also buy used books.

A Bookstore is a great addition for Bridgeport and the surrounding neighborhoods. So if you’re looking for a place to find good deals on books and make some new friends, be sure to check out the Tangible Books in Bridgeport.
